Results from Race #14, the Sept 26th
Challenge Cup XXXV
September 29th '09'
Blackard Finishes Second, and Climbs
even closer in the last points race.
Currently leading the Comfort Shack Sportsman is Jim Bob Rogers
followed by Tommy Roe and Jeffrey Walbaum. Not far behind
are Blackie Blackard and Nick Brinlee and rookie Doug Jensen.
The much anticipated, 30 lap, Sportsman A Main kicked off with
a bang as #46 Eric 'Blackie' Blackard who won his qualifying
race, but with the inversion, started in the fifth position.
#46 Blackie Blackard took off but found all the fast runners
ahead of him. He slowly and methodically picked off each car as
he worked his way toward the front. At about lap 20, the caution
flag flew for an accident. Involved, was the second place points
holder, Tommy Roe who, when the cars were pulled apart, was
unable to continue. That gave Jim Bob Rogers, the leader, and
Blackard their best chance to settle the race between themselves,
When the green flag flew, Blackie stuffed his car deep into the
corner,working on Jim Bob, this time Jim Bob was up to the task,
and was not to be denied, finishing the race with JimBob having
about a one car lead between himself and the second place car of
Blackard.
As a result, JimBob won the race and the Championship.
Eric Blackard finished the race second, and finished the year in
second place in total points!!
Next race: NEXT YEAR 2010!!
